Friday I had the opportunity to attend a Full Figure Entertainment event at Club Anton in Oakland, CA. Twice a month on Fridays, they hold a night for “full bodied ladies, their friends and fans”. Part was to bid adieu to Jessica – a friend who is moving to London and of course to dance and chat with everyone else! I managed to get there just as Sarah and Jessica arrived, so I convinced them to do a mini photo shoot before heading inside. You know, before we got all hot and sweaty. Well, at least me.
Now, going to clubs isn’t something I usually do but trying new things makes us grow, right? I’m pretty sure my dance “skills” peaked in the 8th grade but it is still fun. The first time I went to FFF, I wore a strapless, classic black dress. This time… well, this isn’t something I wouldn’t usually wear but it was all about pushing boundaries. Plus, I couldn’t resist. Ooh shiny!
Dress: Size Queen via Fatshionxchange
Slip: Woman Within
Shoes: Evans
Lipstick: MAC in Lady Bug
I picked up the Size Queen second hand but it is very well made out of a polyester fabric with holographic dots. Yes, I know. The sleeves are off shoulder, with two black straps that can be worn as I have them, or tucked down. Since I made the mistake of wearing a strapless bra last time, I thought this worked out nicely! You can see my three sets of black straps – no big deal.
My shoes, while absolutely adorable, do not agree with my feet. My feet slide forward in most shoes, peep toes just mean my toes get strangled. For some reason, these wedges are harder to walk in than usual. But guys – I didn’t fall on my ass, so I call the night a success! Though I totally took them off later that night and switched to black flats. Between the sliding and weeks of dealing with Evans customer service for the first defective pair – these shoes are not high on my list right now. I want to put them in a box and not look at them for a couple of weeks!
(P.S. Evans, pretty please figure out a better process for defective items. This is/has been a nightmare!)
Me flailing! I’m graceful.
Here are my two lovely companions – Sarah and Jessica. Maybe when they read this they will give their outfit details in the comments and I can add those. ;)
Dress – Blue Plate (I think?), Capri leggings – One Stop Plus, Gold flats – Naturalizer, Fat necklace – custom made from Etsy
Skirt – Loop 18, Top – Ross, Shoes – DSW
The super amazing Marilyn Wann was there as well, with French videographer in tow. There is a chance we will appear dancing (me, awkwardly, of course) aside her on TV at some point. Exciting? A little bit. Here are a couple of other shots from inside, before I got in trouble for having a camera. I guess my camera is too “fancy” to be taking snap shots of friends and I had to put it outside.
All in all, it was a fun night. If you’re in or near the Bay Area, you should think about attending!
