Yesterday I had this great idea to take everything out of my closet. The goal? To reorganize and reevaluate my wardrobe. BIG MISTAKE.
I have ton of clothes. A lot of them get worn, but there are still a few things that haven’t had the privilege of seeing the light of day. With fall and winter just around the corner, I thought this might be a good time to go through everything in preparation for cooler weather. Though when you have a ton of other stuff to get done (mainly household chores and homework) it isn’t the best idea to make a giant mess in your room and on the bed you need to sleep on. Ask me how I know!
In addition to clearing everything out, I decided to organize by color. This was kind of tricky thing for me. I’m quite particular about color and found myself making this simple task infinitely more complicated than it had to be. I will say that the end result is pretty fabulous.
Over the last several years, I have intentionally amassed an array of cardigans. One could say, quite literally… a rainbow of cardigans. I’m not kidding! You have no idea how giddy it makes me. They are definitely the favorite part of my wardrobe. Thanks to Cupcakes and Muffintops, I now own an orange cardigan that completes the basic rainbow. I’m pretty sure a rainbow of cardigans makes me one step closer to world domination!
I’m curious to see if organizing by color actually helps or hinders. It will take awhile to tell, since now I’m aware of everything that is on a hanger. At the very least, I expect it to be easier to find things. And that it might also inspire me to not only do laundry more frequently but to also put it away immediately. I’m pretty aware of what I have, just finding it can sometimes be an issue. I swear that my brown cardigan is always MIA – but right now, I know it is on a hanger!
But with the good comes the bad. I’m left with a mess – discarded garments, misplaced purses, shoes, accessories and a whole bunch of stuff that was hidden away but needs to find a proper place. I went to go buy a couple of “organizational tools” this morning and hopefully can get more of this stuff organized and put away! And soon!
Do you have a favorite piece or part of your wardrobe? Is there anything that makes you squee with joy? What kinds of things do you do to organize your wardrobe? Any tips or tricks? Let me know!
