30for30.16: Interview

A few weeks ago I had a totally unexpected job interview and couldn’t let the opportunity pass. I haven’t said anything to anyone because I reaaaaally wanted the job and didn’t want to jiinx it. Turns out that there was some miscommunication and the position was filled internally before my interview.

However, a little birdie told me that the panel that interviewed me had a lot of good things to say and I guess they are considering opening up an internship for the summer. Of course this is all gossip but hey! Something is better than nothing. Paid gigs are great but the experience of working for a larger company and the chance to “make things” to fill out my resume/portfolio are always welcome.

I stuck true to my 30 for 30 and managed to come up with an interview appropriate outfit from my 30 items. Talk about magic! I ended up wearing a blazer and sheer black tights because it was cold in San Francisco but both were in the wash, so you’ll have to use your imagination.

As of Tuesday, the 30 for 30 challenge was over… yet here I am. Only on 16? You have no idea how depressing it was to realize that while I no longer am restricted to these clothes, I still need to reconstruct the outfits and take pictures! Ahh! I thought I could do it but I’m not so sure. It doesn’t help that in a cleaning frenzy last week – my list of items/combinations worn got thrown away. Hopefully it makes an appearance… but I think it is long gone. This is a problem.

If I participate in one of these challenges again, I definitely need a photographer for busy days. Being finished, yet still having to recreate the outfits and from memory is a daunting task!

For awhile I thought I needed the visual to prove myself – “Nicole, you can do more with less!” But I don’t, I’ve been doing it and continuing to remix is enough! My attitude might change in a few weeks when free time is abundant but who knows. What do you think? Should I continue to reconstruct what I wore for the remainder of the challenge? Give it up? Show of hands – I work better under pressure!
