IGIGI 2011 Holiday Collection

Earlier this week, IGIGI launched their absolutely decadent 2011 Holiday Collection, inspired by Parisian femininity and 60s-70s glamor. The collection includes lace, metallics and rich colors – from cocktail gowns to separates and accessories, all designed to turn heads this holiday season. What more does a girl need?

When I started getting into buying my clothes online almost four years ago (wow, time flies!), IGIGI was one of the very first companies I ordered from. Without fail – every season there are a few pieces from IGIGI on my wishlist. Now I just need the fancy life where wearing gorgeous gowns on a regular basis is more realistic, right? But as a college student that isn’t likely.

Here is what designer Yuliya Raquel had to say about the 2011 Holiday Collection:

I think she succeeded in conveying that message, do you? One thing I really love about IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel are the classic, timeless pieces that truly stand the test of time. Not to mention the fabrics and quality of the garments, which are sewn right here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

My favorite piece from this collection is without a doubt the Leigh Lace Dress in Gold or maybe the red? It is a tough choice! And I’m impervious to sequins… so the Minelli Sequin Skirt and Vivienne Clutch in Bronze are up there as well.

OOTD: Bird’s the word

Most holidays in our family are held at my parent’s house and this Thanksgiving was no different. I headed out early to help prep food and do some last minute cleaning. I spent hours cutting, peeling and dicing vegetables. VEGETABLES! Three bunches of celery, 10 lbs of potatoes, etc. and this is what my mother considers a “small” Thanksgiving.

Girl Scout Lip Smackers?!

As a former Girl Scout, there is a special place in my heart for Girl Scout Cookies. It looks like the Girl Scouts have teamed up with Lip Smackers to bring us our favorite cookies in form of chapstick!

Is this exciting news to anyone else?

This year I missed out on my favorite cookies (Samoas, Thin Mints as a close second). After being diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, I won’t be able to partake anymore… but with these new Girl Scout Lip Smackers, I’ll be able to indulge in my childhood favorites.

Then again, chapstick really isn’t an acceptable replacement for a cookie. I happened to find this recipe for Samoa Bars, that is easily changed to be vegan or gluten free.

I know lots of former Girl Scouts and Girl Scout cookie lovers that would absolutely love these – I hope to pick up a couple sets as gifts. According to the article, they should be available at WalMart and Claire’s this holiday season.

Last Friday night

As I mentioned before, this past weekend my brother has been staying with me. Friday night he asked if I had anything or knew of a home remedy to get rid of blackheads.

Upon inspection, I decreed that he didn’t have anything to worry about… but he got me thinking.

I have two tubes of face mask, one soothing cucumber and the other is a green, minty, chalky mess. As an older sister, the latter was perfect for my purposes.

So I said, “I have something for you!” But I didn’t think he’d go for it.

But he did AND let me take pictures. Scary right? Too bad Halloween has passed.

Do any of you use similar products? This is a CVS brand mint mask. The cucumber one dries like saran wrap and is fun to peel off. I’ve noticed that they tend to dry out my skin, so I don’t use them often.
