So many challenges, so little time! This week our theme for Five Take is patterned knitwear. I took pictures in anticipation for this challenge last week but included an acceptable piece in my 30for30, so I figured I’d combine the two. Guess I’ll save those for later. Feel free to check out last week, if you missed it!
Don’t forget to visit the others: Beth, Elizabeth, Monkey and Ms. Loaf, to see their outfits!
I love knitwear. Which maybe led me to learning to spin yarn and ultimately knit – hrm, something to think about? Lately the trends have ran toward bulky knits which tend to look awkward but more importantly – are impossibly warm to wear. Maybe it is the California weather? Maybe I run hot? Either way, wooly knits don’t really have a place in my wardrobe unless they are scarves. In high school I fell in love with a heathered grey, cotton, cable knit sweater from Lane Bryant. The bonus? It totally fit my “grandma” nickname and I loved it. I pretty much lived in it for a couple of years. I actually found it this summer when going through old boxes and had a moment. Maybe I should find it and wear it… once 30for30 is over, that is.
I’ll be sending my regular camera in for repairs pretty soon, so I figured I ought to get reacquainted with the old one… plus it is a lot easier to carry around. Didn’t take me long to remember how much I loathe the kit lens! I did forget about the whole tripod issue when taking OOTD’s out and about so here are a couple of awkward, hip height photos!
Dress – Old Navy
Cardigan – Rafaella via Ross
Tights – We Love Colors, Scarlet Red
Necklace – Claire’s
Boots – Clarks
Belt – Torrid
This cardigan is definitely one of my favorites. Though I have a tendency to throw it on over a solid dress and call it a day. *cough* I thought this taupey, tan dress would be a good addition to my 30for30 items since I lack neutrals that aren’t black but now I’m not so sure. I have a few ideas but not sure how successful they will be. A dress-up session might be in order. Maybe if I have time next week.
It is just five short weeks until the end of the semester. I’m kind of surprised how quickly it has gone. Not much has changed compared to last year. If anything, time should tick at an agonizing pace because I’m technically doing LESS… Where has the time gone? What has been accomplished?
More importantly – WHY IS CHRISTMAS SO CLOSE!? AHHHHHH!

Whoa! what beautiful photos. I really like what you’ve done with this dress–the cardigan and the tights.
This is my first visit here, although I’m a fellow 30/30 remixer. What are you studying in school?
Thank you! My major program is a medley of web/graphic/print design, photography and motion graphics. Lots of stuff!
You look so good Nicole! I love the red accents.
Totally covering that cardi- you look gorg!!
I love this outfit. Those red tights are amazing.
I love them but not when they turn my feet/calves pink. It was a little less after I washed them a second time.
fantastic color and pattern! This is my favorite outfit you’ve worn in the 30 for 30 remix!
I love the outfit. The cardigan looks very similar to the one Elizabeth wore in her’s. Is it the same?
I’m loving this outfit! The red tights are a nice touch. I really like how the black applique on the Old Navy dress go with the cardigan. There is a stationery shop which sells the kind of print your cardigan has and now it makes me think of you as a present, all wrapped up in your cardigan!
Thanks! I’m addicted to the damask prints. I love them! I guess all I need next time is a bow?
I love the red tights, and next to the red flowers they make for such a pretty picture!
I love your sweater and holy smokes.. did you take those photos? I love the ones of the flower petals, they are really great photos!! I am trying to get better at the photography aspect of this and take all my own pics so any tips you have would be happily received :)
happy mixing!!
Aww, thank you! I take 95% of my photos – unless I can pawn the job off on someone else. I’ll probably do a post in the near future… it is in the works but I haven’t had much time lately!
Though I’m hardly an authority.
i haven’t really got into the chunky cardigan craze either. that’s probably because i live in texas & it isn’t cold here. but i do love your cardigan. the print is great.
I feel for you – I visited Texas in May and it was miserable. I can deal with the heat but the humidity is a killer!
You look amazing! I love the neutral palette, and then the pop of red! This is a gorgeous outfit! I love your belt too :)
<3
great cardi and dress! And setting for photograph, btw.
This is my fave outfit on you thus far. Just fabulous! I love the pops of red.
Wow I LOVE that cardigan and that shot of the rose petal on the cement is SO BEAUTIFUL with the sun in the background.
