Five Take: Lace

The idea behind this weekly challenge is pretty simple. One theme, five people… resulting in five different looks. The only restriction is having to shop from our closets. Easy enough, right?

Go visit Beth, Elizabeth, Monkey and Ms. Loaf to see their outfits!

This week the theme was lace. Here’s mine:

Skirt #1 – Avenue zip skirt

Skirt #2 – Torrid floral skirt

Blazer – Torrid
Cami – Avenue
Lace shirt & pin (came with it) – New Look Inspire
Tights – Avenue
Shoes – Ross
Bracelets – Evans

There are a few lace pieces in my wardrobe but I knew that I wanted to wear this shirt for the challenge. I bought it this spring but never got around to wearing it. Bad! Actually, most of these pieces don’t get a lot of wear so I am trying to remedy that.

I was kind of undecided on which skirt looked best, so I ended up wearing both. I’m indecisive on a good day! What do you think?

In person, the lace, color and floral didn’t seem overwhelming but on camera it did. The Torrid skirt is ridiculously short, I feel like a small breeze will result in disaster. Then again, I’ve always had poor luck with that kind of thing so I always wear something underneath!

My hair has been extremely entertaining. I like how it moves! Proof:

Apologies to my friends for the delay! I have a class on Saturday’s and don’t get home until early evening. Then two of my brother’s showed up to bring me something… which is a story for another post!

  1. You look so hot! I like the first skirt with the lace best, though both are cute. I don’t think it would’ve occurred to me to pair the two, but it’s an interesting twist!

Also, love the hair and your expressions. You look so happy.

  2. Gorgeous!

I really like the first skirt the best – simple and chic :)

  3. I prefer the avenue zip skirt because I want to concentrate on the lace pattern of your cami!

  4. I concur with the others – the first skirt looks better. I do like the ditzy print one though! You could try and pair it with a top in one of the colours in the skirt.

Also still loving the hair colour.

  5. Beautiful ! – And I’m not going to mention that I, too, like the plain skirt with the top better :)

I have a very similar black lace pin that came with a pearl necklace. I wonder if they sell those seperately at all. I would have bought it, probably.

    • I actually bought two tops from New Look and when I got them noticed that both came with the same pin. It was amusing!

  6. Hey I found you via Kendi! I like the first look, it’s a bit more professional, but the second one is whimsical!

  7. Love the Avenue skirt….my daughter has purchased a few really cute things there….I just saw your blog, and wanted to stop by and say hi…really cute style:)
