OOTD: Favorite things

People always ask, “Why are you so dressed up?” or “Did you do something special today?” Which can be both annoying and amusing. Problem is… I don’t have an answer. I often find myself dressing up for no reason or maybe it is a great reason – just because. Because I felt like it. Besides, I have ton of clothes and they aren’t going to wear themselves!

Me

This outfit combines a few of my favorite things – floral print, a thrifted skirt, ruffles and coral. Floral prints are my ultimate weakness, the uglier the better. There have been several occasions where I pick up a skirt, think “Wow, this is terrible!”, put it back… spend the next 5 minutes questioning my judgment for picking it up in the first place aaaaand then eventually go back to purchase. It is a sickness, truly.

Skirt – Thrifted
Belt – From another dress
Shoes – Softspots
Bracelets – Evans

A few months ago I was at Kohl’s to look for towels and a vacuum. Oh boy, how adult. It is kind of funny – but the older I get, the more I get excited about… buying household items. Not necessarily the fun stuff either! But I am in the middle of decorating my bathroom and needed to find the right color towels. I don’t do much brick and mortar shopping – old habits die hard, I guess. Too many years of having little to no choices when it comes to plus size clothing, let alone above a size 24! Either way, I decided to try my luck and check their women’s section and was pleasantly surprised.

Now, I’ll admit that a lot of the Elle range was not my style – mainly the “trendier” items but there were a few gems. This blouse in particular with its puff sleeves, ruffles, princess seams and matching belt – it looked totally cute and had to be mine. There were a couple others: a jersey top with ruffle/flutter sleeves that I also adored in mustard and navy, a black lace top and a variety of leggings. The more “basic” elements of the line appealed to me more than the statement pieces. The rest of the prints were too over the top or “too much trend” for one item item of clothing. I ended up buying the coral blouse, the lace top, black leggings and a few basic t-shirts from their house brand – all on sale, for under $40 bucks. Not too shabby!

  1. That top is definitely cute — it looks way better on you than on the website. I love your makeup, too!
